Teen Sabbat Jam & Kavannah Grades 9-12
Teen Shabbat Jam is a popular and contemporary monthly Friday night high school teen only musical Shabbat Service. This service often attracts between 40-70 high school students who are drawn by the music of our own teen band, Kavannah. Kavannah has recorded two CD's, performed all over California, but most importantly facilitates a deep and inspiring Shabbat experience that relates to the modern teen. The band is comprised of all Temple Solel high school students and is currently a 16 piece band. Many teens choose to spend their Friday night at a Teen Shabbat Jam because of the service's music, dialogue, meditation, and the strong friendships and community that forms from the shared experience. After the service, the teens go to a local restaurant to grab some food and engage in the old Jewish tradition of shmoooooozing.
Teen Shabbat Jam starts at 7pm and is in the Beit Midrash and pickup is at Chili's in Encinitas between 10:15pm - 11:00pm
